After February is one of the best times to find a deers travel patterns. They don't move far from their home core area and they leave a lot of sign due to spending a lot of time there. This is also a good place to look for his sheds. Again this will confirm that this is his core area.

Make sure you take some orange ribbon to mark the best spots. The sign will deminish as the leaves start to grow back, and this will allow you to go right to where you want to set up your stands.

Pick you out a good tree to ambush him when season starts, and put your stands up early. Trim your lanes at the same time. This will do 2 things, It will let the deer get used to the changes and you will not have to go back more than you need so you don't bump him out of the area.

There is not much else to do at this time of year but you can get a world of good out a little late winter effort. Good luck with the shed hunting too.
